Fran and Gary Heiser, parents of Michael Heiser, were co-founders of The Michael Heiser Foundation in 2000. Fran and Gary were the spark plugs who lead the way in getting recognition for the 19 Heroes of the Khobar Towers bombing assassinations. After Gary passed away in 2008, Fran kept up the effort and finally prevailed in her battle for recognition and closure for the victims of terrorism. She is the retired owner of a successful real estate company in Palm Coast, FL.
She chose as her directors those who were and are successful in their careers and who also were civic minded and have witnessed tragedy in their own lives.
Director since 2003, served in the U.S. Army with Gary Heiser. Gary and his wife, Ingrid, met the Heisers in Germany in 1971, when Michael was 11 years old. Many great memories were created by Fran, Gary, and Michael Heiser with Gary and Ingrid Sherwood in Germany. Continuing their friendship into civilian life, Gary and Ingrid were with Fran and Gary in Alaska in 1996 when Khobar Towers was bombed. The tragedy intensified their friendship.
Gary was employed as a finance officer for national companies for over thirty years, as General manager and Executive Vice President for a local water-wastewater service company in Texas for ten years, and later as Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic Region for a national water-wastewater company. He served as a Water Board Director for sixteen years in Texas. He and his wife reside in Central Virginia, where Gary currently serves as President of the Lovingston Ruritan Club, member of the American Legion Post 17, and Board Member of the Gladstone Fire Board, Nelson County Service Authority, and Nelson County Chamber of Commerce.
Director since 2004 – Born in Ohio, but a Floridian since 1985. Linda met Fran and Gary while focusing on her Estate Planning and Real Estate specialties. Linda has held many professional designations and organization memberships, including Board of Director positions. She now owns a successful Demolition business with her husband, Vernon.
Rob was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 17, 1962. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in August of 1980 as an aircraft mechanic. While in the Air Force, Rob served in various aircraft maintenance assignments in his 20 year career.
After retirement from the Air Force and a short stint with the Department of the Air Force as a civil servant, Rob was hired by American Airlines as an Aircraft Production Supervisor at O’Hare Airport in Chicago. There he supervised and coordinated the activities of 75+ workers in several occupations to meet the fast paced and constantly changing production and scheduling goals of the airline. After 3 years of airline work, Rob made the decision to go to law school.
Rob attended Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. Following Law School, he worked in the areas of criminal defense, foreclosure defense, and civil litigation. Rob currently works as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator in Circuit Civil, Family Law, and Foreclosure Defense.

Director since 2017, CPA, owns a thriving accounting firm in Palm Coast, FL. Steve has been a CPA for 16 years, a CFP® for 12 years, and has been in business for himself since 2003. After spending years as a CFO for a mid-sized regional corporation, Steve started Certified Financial & Tax in the Tampa Bay area in 2005. Steve has worked extensively with individuals, small businesses, estates, trusts, and non-profit entities in providing tax and assurance services. Steve moved with his family to Palm Coast, FL, after acquiring an office there in 2010. Steve has been married to his wife, Sarah, for 16 years. Steve and Sarah are proud parents of 5 children. Steve enjoys coaching and watching his kids’ sporting events, traveling, reading, golf, cooking, and relaxing with friends and family.
Director since 2017, Max was born in St. Louis, MO, and raised in central Illinois (Taylorville). He joined the USAF in June of 1962 and, after tech school training at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS, he served a 1 year tour in Wakkanai, Japan, (1963-64) and is a Vietnam Veteran, (1965-1966). Honorably discharged in June of 1966 at Offutt AFB, NE, he moved to Edwardsville, IL, where he attended Southern Illinois University for several years, while also working for two major industrial corporations in the St. Louis, MO, area and raising his family. He retired in 2007 after 40+ years service in the corporate sector. For the past five years he has lived in St Augustine, FL, where he enjoys playing golf, traveling, and being retired. Max is the father of five grown children, seven grandchildren, and (presently) one great grandchild. Throughout his life he has served in many diverse leadership positions.
